The Zôo do Tropical Hotel Manaus occupies part of the green area of the hotel, about 20,000 m2 and was inaugurated in 1976 with the initial aim of exposing some of the representatives of the Amazon fauna. Today, the objective surpasses the exhibition of animals for entertainment of the visiting public, being also focused on the "ex situ" Conservation (outside the natural habitat) and Environmental Education. The Zoo is registered * with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), fulfilling all the legal norms required, including all their animals donated by the same, resulting from seizures and other enforcement actions. The Zoo is also associated with the Zoological Society of Brazil - SZB.
Aiming at an adequate management to meet the needs of animals and all safety standards, Zôo has specialized professionals such as: biologist, veterinarian and a cadre of handlers. Their well-being is guaranteed through a balanced nutrition diet, supplying nutritional needs according to the requirements for each species, development of environmental enrichment programs, application of preventive sanitary procedures, and daily monitoring.
The animal stock, 100% Amazonian, today (Census 2011) is made up of 91 specimens distributed among: birds (6), mammals (10) and reptiles (6), among which the jaguar, Americas; the monkey spider, the largest monkey in the Brazilian Amazon forest and the capybara, the largest rodent in the world. The animals are housed in 16 precincts, all previously authorized by IBAMA, providing the welfare of each species, in addition to those living in the green area, such as Parauacu or Old Monkey (Pithecia pithecia), Sauim de Coleira (Saguinus bicolor), Sloths (Bradypus variegatus), Iguana (Iguana iguana) and various species of birds (listed 116 species).
Currently, the action of Tropical Hotel Manaus in the conservation of natural resources involves an effective participation in relation to Socio-environmental Responsibility, working on three fronts:
* Environmental Education Program (Support to Educational Campaigns, Environment Week, Lectures on Environment and Seedlings Planting),
* Conservation "ex-situ"
* Effluent treatment plant
The zoo opens daily from 08:00 to 17:00 h. Zôo has an Environmental Education Program through a monitored visit (information at the reception).
For the external public, a request is required, addressed to the Board of Executive Officers for: entities, schools, universities and companies.

In the green area of Tropical Manaus there are 150 m2 dedicated to orchids. The Tropical Orquidário aims to arouse the interest of the visitors regarding the importance of the species planted there, it houses 1,350 specimens, among them about 56 Amazonian species. Cattleya, Acacallis and Oncidium are among the many examples of such specimens. A valuable natural treasure, which must be preserved and worshiped, therefore presents an impressive variety of colors and shapes, from the simplest to the most exotic.
